This summer I was a little adventurous and took a college level course: Spanish 402. This was slightly more challenging than the course I took last summer which was only a 100 level course aka remedial. In addition, I went to visit Cal Poly, the school of my dreams. It did not fail to disappoint and both its campus and architecture program are fabulous. I had an amazing summer;)
Over the summer i caught up on sleep. That was my main goal for me during summer so that I could come into the new year with a new attitude! In July I got my first job and that kept me busy and gave me some money so I could save up for college! My summer was an overall transition from being a teen to a young adult I feel!
My summer was pretty productive. I got my first job, got my permit, and completed all my ap assignments without cramming last minute. Due to me getting all of that out of the way I was able to relax a bit and take a good mental break from the school year, which was fun all on its own! On top of that I went to the state fair which became a night to remember.
Over the summer I got to see my family in Mexico, I was mostly excited to see my grandmother and two of my favorite aunts named Lupe and Araceli. Both of them are outgoing and very talkative just like myself so i got along with them automatically. I also got to ride a four wheeler out on the mountains, it was very adrenaline rushing. Not only did i get to ride a four wheeler but also got to shoot a real gun three times, forgot what it was called. Once i got back home i got back to playing soccer and spending time with my best friend before she heads out to college on the 22nd of this month.
Over the summer I didn't do much. I just chilled and enjoyed everyday blissfully. The best part of my summer was getting engaged. Other than that it was pretty simplistic. Overall, I had a wonderful summer and I hope this school year will be just as great. -Loretta T
Over the summer I worked on my AP summer work, cleaned a lot around my house, went swimming a lot, went on YouTube, watched Netflix, be on Snapchat, and Instagram
My summer was pretty boring, I stayed in the house a lot . Caught up on my sleep, meaning I slept in. Did my ap work, and visited with most of my family.
Over the summer I didn't really do anything fun or exciting. Mostly just caught up on sleep and spent time with my family. Also of course completing my AP summer work. Two things that were very exciting that did happen over the summer was I got my permit and I got a scholarship that I applied to during my 10 th grade year. Other than that my summer was pretty boring
This summer I worked at the Boys and Girls Club downtown Monday through Friday. On some Saturdays I would buy movis, pizza, and snacks for family bonding night. This summer I also started writing a book on wattpad!!! Over all I had a pretty productive summer. -Kaylina Estrada
This summer I went to Portland, Oregon and I absolutely loved the city. There were so many things to see, and the food was probably the best I've ever had. On the drive there I stopped and visited a few colleges that I'm interested in like University of Oregon, and University of Seattle (Seattle is a chill city too, I'd love to live there). I visited a lot of the waterfalls that are in Oregon and I saw the Washington state capitol. With all of this traveling, I took some rock solid photos of nature, architecture and generally different cities and their unique qualities. I also read The Catcher in the Rye on the drive to Portland, it made the long hours feel like nothing. I was really tied into the book!
Over the summer I did a paid internship at city hall where we learned about the importance of public service, local governments, and how to speak up for your opinion. It was a lot of fun and I met a lot of new people
Over the summer I spent a lot of time watching tv and reading. I spent a lot of time with my friends and family, and visited San Francscio frequently for family events. I had cheer practice all summer and cheer camp. I also went to the Link Crew retreat.
I went out of town for the most part with my dad to Chico , but after that my mom and I just went downtown to show off her SECRET food spots like the Melting Pot (my fav. you should try it out great experience) and the Boiling Crab which was good, but i don't like seafood like that. Overall, I worked over the summer at my job at Underground Books (you saw me once).
Over my summer break, I went to cheer camp. I have been cheering at sac high for 3 years now and I really enjoy it. The camp we went to was small so we got to learn and practice new techniques. On the last day, we took home 2 superior plaques, the unity award, and the spirit stick. - Sydney A.
Over the summer I was able to go to San Jose for the first time and I had a lot of fun because I got to spend that time with my family. Also, I of course got to relax.
Over my summer break I didn't do very much besides cheer. I had cheer practice three days a week which was an interesting time. I also went to cheer camp which was lovely minus a few events. At the beginning of summer I had a summer job however it was horrible so I stopped working. I went on a link crew retreat that my best friends also went on so that was a very good time. I went to the pier with my mom and sisters where we spent the night and did a ferry ride. Lastly I got to read more than I usually do as well as watch a ton of Netflix.
Over my summer break, I attend the senate retreat to plan out this year school events. I just relaxed and did AP homework. Also spent time with the family at the family reunion and my nephew 8th birthday party.
My summer break was very busy. I worked my first job at City Hall and during my time there, I got to present an idea/project that would have benefited my community. Then, the council members actually made my group's project a reality last Saturday which was really cool. I still had to manage my time in order to get all of my summer assignments done but I got through it. I also interned at the Front Street Animal Shelter. I loved it there and then at the end of the internship, I got paid 300 dollars. Then, I went on a shopping spree. Overall, I had a blast during my summer because I got to meet new people and get out of the house.
My summer break was dull and boring. I didn't do much at all but attend summer school. but at the end of the course my father and I and a few family friends went to San Diego for a week and stayed at a beach house. We visited different beach locations. Also we went to a music festival which was the highlight of the trip.
This summer was a boring summer. I went to Los Angeles to take care of my uncle that was sick and i also got to go camping for the first time ever. -Janelle Torres
This summer I took a Psychology class at Sac City and took some online courses. That was mostly my summer. I also took up babysitting for a few family friends. Other than that I was basically living over my friends houses because I didn't want to go home. It was a pretty chill summer... (also this one time when i was on the light rail this summer this dude asked me if a mind if he lite a cig. LIKE IN THE TRAIN THINGY AS IT WAS MOVING LIKE WHO DOES THAT? so i was like yeah i mind don't lite it. so he did it anyway and blew it in my direction??? like what was the point in him asking me if he was gonna do it anyway? but its kinda funny now.but that was a big highlight in my summer and it would have been an injustice if i didn't tell that story) I put that in parenthesis because I didn't feel like typing in correct grammar and I feel like it indicated it was a side note.
This summer for me was full of work. I got hired at Sac Skills Academy in 24 Hour Fitness on Florin Rd. That was a great experience. I got to work with kids, get paid, train others in basketball, and get my own training. I met a lot of college athletes or soon to be athletes. Other then working I didn't do much for my summer. I went on the senate retreat, to the fair once, saw family(like usual), played volleyball, played basketball, and saw some friends.
This summer I had the opportunity to play for a Nike National team named Cal Sparks SoCal. I was blessed to be added to the team as it was ranked the #4 team in the Nation. As a club, we traveled to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, South Carolina, and Georgia to play in front of college coaches. It was an unforgettable experience and along the way I was able to pick up a few more college offers. Although, my summer was busy I still made time for my friends and family.
Well, my summer was very delightful. I interned at the Sacramento District Attorneys Office. Basically, I worked with lawyers the whole summer. The DA's office is usually the people who are prosecution in a criminal case. I truly had fun with them. My boss was the nicest and most understanding person I've met in my life. The lawyers were very respectful and kind. Personally, I assumed they would be too busy to interact with interns but I felt as if they really did appreciate us. I was even told that without us, there jobs would take years. This was definitely an improvement from my last internship. I will definitely go back next year.
Over summer break I did some traveling and really enjoyed being able to photograph most of it. I went to San Francisco a few times. The past weekend I was in Tahoe because I was a groomsman in my brothers wedding and I did some hiking and enjoyed seeing my brother get married. I focused much of my summer on photography and soccer.
Over the summer i spent most of my time focusing on track and trying to truly enjoy my break by staying home and taking time from everyone.By the end of the break, i traveled to Florida for a track meet. It was quiet a learning experience especially in the seriousness of politics.
Over my summer I did alot of working out by myself and with others. I got my legs really strong so I can attend in this marathon coming up. I even got a new personal record in my 3 mile time down to 12 minutes. I even got to hang out with family and lots of barbecue. The most important thing I did this summer was make smarter decisions and start applying for college.
My summer consisted of working for the city of Sacramento LandL summer job program working Monday through Friday, 8-2:30. Other than that I mostly spent quality time with my family, went to the fair three times, and played basketball at the gym every Saturday morning as usual.
Although my summer could have been a whole lot better, I did have a couple fun moments. One of them was a night my cousins and I decided to go to the movies at 10pm. After the movie, we were so desperate for food we went to In-n-out across the street. That was very fun and adventurous since it was pretty late and we all just had a great time. Nights like those were much needed since there was so much going on within our family, stuff we definitely did not plan to happen this summer. My summer could have been a lot better, but everything happens for a reason.
This summer I mainly hung out with friends. I gained some new friends that I feel like will be around for a lifetime and I really learned a lot about myself surprisingly. I learned what I think I want to major in when I go to college and I have narrowed down my top schools I want to get in to realistically.
I had a stressful summer. I had a summer job, I interned at a summer camp, and I had to do PSAT practice test. Oh and I had to do AP homework too. So like I said I had a good summer -Beatrice Hampton
Over the summer I went to Ohio to visit my grandfather and other family, which was exciting. I worked for his company while I was there and babysat my cousin, so we didn't get a LOT of chances to do things other than work. However, we did go to Washington DC and Ohio's annual Ribfest. We're supposed to be going to Egypt sometime in October or November too.
This Summer I was incredibly busy ripping and running night and day. Every day I was no longer on Black people time as I was for the beginning of the summer. I had to attend classes at Summer at City Hall during the summer. My day would always start of by waking up at five-thirty in morning to catch the bus so I could make it on time.At Summer at City Hall we learned the main basis of government, advocacy and it was also the first place were I had an internship. What we learned about government was at city level, state level and federal level. More specifically we learned how the government of the city of Sacramento worked. After that we grouped up in our districts to prepare a presentation for an advocacy project we could show to council. Our project was on implementing more speed bumps into District 6. I interned for Regional Transit , so I got to see a lot of crazy things on public transportation. In the end I was payed with three hundred of them thangs.
This Summer I was very busy with weekly volleyball practices, softball practices and games, and volunteer work at the parenting center. However I got to relax with a three week cross country road trip to see my sister compete in the Junior Olympics in Florida, visit family in South Carolina, accept a college invite in Alabama, and attend my uncle's wedding in Chicago. Also, as the cherry on top of my summer, I finally got my license.
Again, this summer I spent time with my family, I went on a hike to a swimming hole. I spent the summer also doing my ap English and ap math homework. My summer was pretty cool, I enjoyed it for the most part. I enjoyed the little things like going to the fair, spending mother and daughter time, and also looking for a job
My summer was a very laid back, and stress free one, besides the fact that I needed to memorize my lines for the musical I was in, and trying not to procrastinate on my AP lit homework, along with the stress of being at work all day long. I was able to travel to So Cal, and Nevada a lot. I was extremely blessed to take a trip outside the U.S. to Canada for the 150th Boundless anniversary of The Salvation Army.
